Volunteers are critical to Throwaway Ponies. We have no paid staff. But, it is important to have the right volunteers. All volunteers go through training. Adults are asked to submit permission for a criminal background check and personal references. Mature children age 11 and above may be considered for volunteer work. Parents must sign a release of liability and complete a volunteer application for themselves if they are going to be around the children here for therapy. Both parents must sign the release of liability for the child Volunteer opportunities: Horses: need grooming and love and attention. Some people just want to brush and pet the horses. Horses need that attention. Cleaning: tack and stalls need attention. Side walkers: working with our younger children while they are riding or around the horses. Maintenance: painting, fixing, building - all a part of what we do. These are often good Eagle Scout projects too.
