November 2009 Newsletter

We just hosted 20 participants (counselors, social workers and equine professionals) in an Equine Assisted Psychotherapy/Philosophy clinic for 3 days. We learned about using horse for mental health therapy. Greg Kersten of OK Corral was the presenter. http://www.okcorralseries.com  Thanks so much to Mary Lou, Joan Phillips and Belinda Green for helping prepare the food.  They did an excellent job. Vayle and Astrid helped organize the day and feed horses afterwards.

Look on Facebook for updated photos of Lynx.  He is getting better, ever so slowly. The other two horses from Bonham seem to be recovered from their founder.

FUND RAISING - arrrgrgggg! I hate it, but it must be done. There are horses to feed and feet to trim.

Wednesday, Dec. 2 at 10am  I am hosting a brunch for anyone interested in helping with spring fund raisers. I'm looking for ideas and help. Maybe a golf tournament and/or auction and/or dinner?  Please RSVP so I'll have enough food.

We're having a garage sale on Saturday, Dec. 12.  I had hoped to have it the 5th, but I have to go out of town. We have lots of Christmas items and toys.  Please bring your donations or contact me so I can pick them up. Hope some of you can volunteer a couple of hours to work the sale also.

I don't have totals from the scrapbooking fundraiser, but I'll let you know.  Also, we're having a children's book sale soon. I've seen them and these are really nice books. Don't buy Christmas gifts for the kids and grandkids until you see these.

Thanks for promoting us and helping us rescue horses.  The therapeutic riding is slowly growing and I hope to expand the program next year.

To order great kids books for Christmas go to www.ubah.com/HOS161508.  ("UBAH" stands for Usborne Books at Home.  It's now been changed to "Usborne Books and More"-- in case anyone asks. . . .)  The other way would be to simply go through my website-- www.childrenread2learn.com.  On the RH side is a column for "active e-shows"-- there you'll find your Throwaway Ponies link.
Please forward to anyone who you think would be interested.
